A visit to discover the area’s artistic and architectural heritage could start at the historical centre of Villa, where the Pieve di San Martino is located, rebuilt in the eighteenth century (between 1730 and 1778) thanks to a design by Tolmezzo architect Domenico Schiavi on a pre-existing gothic site. The ceiling frescos by the architect’s brother, painter Antonio Schiavi (1736-1786), date back to the same period. Valuable eighteenth century furnishings adorn the interior of the church.The Antica Osteria Stella d’Oro in the village's piazza, where General Krasnòv stayed deserves to be seen. Not far from Villa, contemporary art collector Egidio Marzona set up Art Park, an unusual park of contemporary art which is home to works by artists like Bruce Neuman, Richard Long, Sol LeWitt, Dan Graham and Robert Berry, international exponents of cultural trends tied to Arte Povera, Land Art and Minimalism. The open air park in Villa di Verzegnis can be freely visited and is part of the CarniaMusei museum network.
