Tolmezzo, the administrative centre of Carnia, extends over the large valley of Tagliamento river, leaving the first mountain slopes to the small and typical villages. Take a break and visit Tolmezzo. You will discover an unique alpine town for its elegant noble buildings, the ancient churches and the suggestive small streets of the historic center. A pleasant stroll through arcades and covered walkways will bring you in the lively heart of the town, with its boutique, gastronomic laboratories, cinema and theater.

At the entrance of Carnia, Amaro is the village of the streams, of the falls, of the little ponds. Here an interesting event take place every year: la “Festa del Gambero” (Crayfish Festival), in honor of the legend that, from father to son, it is handed down in the village. Toward south the reliefs of Verzegnis are reflected in the green water of a small artificial lake, while the cliff and the church of Cesclans close the valley and conceal the sight of the lake of Cavazzo Carnico, the largest of the region.
